APEDA Registration

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act passed by the Parliament in December 1985. The Aim of the APEDA is to promote the export of scheduled products. Every export exporting Schedule products are required to obtain APEDA Registration.

Under section 12 subsection (1) of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act 1985 (as amended), every person exporting any one or more of the Scheduled products shall, before the expiration of one month from the date on which he undertakes such export, apply to Authority to be registered as an exporter of the Scheduled product or Scheduled products. The section further provides that the Authority may for sufficient reason extend the time-limit for registration by such period as it thinks fit

The Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) is issued to exporters subject to following the laid down procedures in this regard. With the objective of simplification of procedures and ease of doing business, w.e.f. 01.08.2015, the issuance of RCMC has been made online using digital signatures. In the new process, the exporters are required to submit the documents online. Registration is valid for 5 Years.

APEDA is mandated with the responsibility of export promotion and development of the following scheduled products and export of these products are required to obtain the registration:

  1. Fruits, Vegetables and their Products.
  2. Meat and Meat Products.
  3. Poultry and Poultry Products.
  4. Dairy Products.
  5. Confectionery, Biscuits and Bakery Products.
  6. Honey, Jaggery and Sugar Products.
  7. Cocoa and its products, chocolates of all kinds.
  8. Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages.
  9. Cereal and Cereal Products.
  10. Groundnuts, Peanuts and Walnuts.
  11. Pickles, Papads and Chutneys.
  12. Guar Gum.
  13. Floriculture and Floriculture Products.
  14. Herbal and Medicinal Plants.
  15. In addition to this, APEDA has been entrusted with the responsibility to monitor the import of sugar.

Information and Documents Required for APEDA Registration:

  1. Self-certified copy of the Import-Export Code issued by D.G.F.T.
  2. Self-certified copy of PAN issued by Income Tax Department.
  3. Business Constitution document/Proof of Business
  4. Address proof for registered Address
  5. A bank certificate in a specified format is required
  6. List of Directors/partners as applicable
  7. A cancelled cheque of the business bank account
  8. Description of the products being exported
  9. The period for which you need APEDA License
  10. Mobile Number, Email ID
  11. In case the exporter desired to register as Manufacturer Exporter, they should furnish a self-attested copy of the registration of the company with the relevant certification agencies for the products given below: -
